LIFTING
What is lifting and what results does it guarantee?
A facelift is a cosmetic surgery procedure performed to restore a youthful, toned and wrinkle-free appearance to the face and neck. It is a treatment capable of combating the signs of ageing that affect the neck and face, tensing the muscles, removing excess skin and reducing fat: it is therefore considered an anti-ageing intervention.
The facelift can affect the forehead and eyebrows, cheeks and cheekbones, neck and chin, or the face as a whole.
The effect of lifting: the objectives
The facelift eliminates wrinkles by filling the areas of the face that due to ageing have emptied and have lost fullness. The results with the facelift are:
The elimination of “crow’s feet”, wrinkleson the forehead and those between nose and mouth
the wrinkles that are created around the eyes
The newfound fullness of the cheeks
Muscle remodelling and tissue repositioning
to counteract sagging of the face
To obtain these benefits, the cosmetic surgeon separates the skin from the tissues that are under it: they are reshaped and placed in the desired position, fixing them with sutures During the relaxation phase of the skin, the doctor can eliminate any excesses.
Face lifting: before and after
The face-lift can affect different areas, from the neck to the forehead, on which the surgeon intervenes without altering their characteristic features. The incisions are made according to the area of the face to be treated: it is possible to proceed to start from the temporal region, at the hairline, under the chin, behind the ears, in the lower part of the cheek, or under the lower eyelid. Wherever they are made, the incisions always correspond with skin folds, so that the scars are not visible in the future.
The lifting operation causes swelling, pain and bruising: these symptoms persist for a couple of days and can be relieved with painkillers. It is essential to keep in mind that, although it is possible to resume daily activities as early as the third day, the washing of the face independently, at home, can only be done about ten days after the operation: the sanitary staff must perform the first. After 3 weeks, sporting activities will be allowed to restart and the results will be visible.
